For those of you that follow along on my instagram or know me personally, this is not a surprise! Justin and I have been together for 6.5 years and been on MANY adventures together. This one might be our craziest one yet! We are MOVING in a PANDEMIC! Ahhhhhhhh!
Justin and I have been talking about buying a home off/on for a few years. It never seemed like the right time. I will admit that I was ALWAYS pro buying vs renting, but when we moved in together, owning a home wasn’t in the cards. I will admit though, I have loved every minute in our condo. We rented a new build, two story condo with a rooftop patio that overlooks the Gatineau hills for a STEAL. For that reason, we were able to still save money to put a down payment on a home.
I’ve told Justin once or twice that I will most likely cry when we leave this place. Our first home together. The home we brought Maisy to. UGH. So many wonderful memories here.
However, this family is moving to Chelsea!
Justin and I love being surrounded by nature, enjoy a short commute to work, and love being near downtown. When it came time to buy, the only logical place to look was Chelsea… and then we found our perfect home.
Planning, packing, and eventually moving during a global pandemic has been a challenge. None of our families have seen our home aside from pictures, we walked through the model home once, and due to the housing market right now, our decision to buy had to be a quick one as they only had two homes left in the subdivision! At this time, all of our documents have been signed virtually, and we are eagerly waiting for our inspection prior to moving in… not really knowing what we’re getting!!
Packing the last couple of weeks has also proven to be challenging. Apparently boxes and tape aren’t considered “essential” in a lockdown?? Thankfully, my sister and brother are also in the process of moving, and my parents just completed a massive home renovation so they have us supplied with everything we will need for now.
Everything is coming along, but our biggest worry comes once we get the keys. We had chosen to not hire movers as we have friends and family happily willing to help. And now, we’re wondering if they are even allowed to help!?!?! Not only do we have to worry about Ontario restrictions, we also have to consider Quebec restrictions as well. Boy oh boy, what a treat.
We are taking things one day at a time and can’t wait to start some mini home projects once we’re settled!
Should I share more home updates here!?
So many exciting things to come. Happy to have you all along for the ride.
